2009 Litters

Here you can find a brief breakdown of the litters we had in 2009.

Parents PMR Chevelle x ROK Izo
DOB  5/2/09
Goals  Bring dumbo into this line, improve heads, better self markings.
Litter Notes

Izo delivered 13 healthy, live rittens at 9am on 5/2. The lighter

colored babies are starting to look like they're actually Platinum

which is a very pale blueish color sometimes called Silver depending

on the club and genotype. I believe, based on their eye color,

we actually have 3 Platinums and 2 blue pointed himalayans.

This is quite a surprise since we weren't aware Izo carries RED.

Ritten Info Female A - Blue Irish
Female B - Blue self w/white feet

Female D - Blue Self

Parents

ROK Keir x ROK Whisper

(black x seal point Siamese rex)

DOB 5/4/09
Goals

Improve type, markings, and shading. Keir has good foot color,

excellent bone and substance, and large, crease-free ears.

Whisper has a nicely shaped head and superior temperament.

Litter Notes

Whisper delivered 13 healthy, live babies around 9am 5/4.

The hope was that Whisper and Willow would give me complimentary

black pups in a male and female to breed together which will be a

line breeding on better marked and sized rats and a line breeding

on awsome temperament. So far though, it looks like Willow produced

the better marked babies, but I'm leaning toward keeping the black

dumbo female in this litter.

Ritten Info Female A - Black Irish dumbo

Parents ROK Keir x ROK Willow
DOB  5/6/09
Goals  Improve self markings on Siamese and improve shading.
Litter Notes

Willow delivered 16 healthy, live babies around 9pm 5/6. I was

fortunate enough to watch the birth from the 3rd rittin on! Willow

didn't mind a bit either and is a great mom. The hope was that

Whisper and Willow (who are sisters) would give me complimentary

black pups in a male and female to breed together which will be a

line breeding on better marked and sized rats and a line breeding on

awsome temperament. So far though, it looks like Willow produced

the better marked babies, but I'm leaning toward keeping the black

dumbo female in this litter. Most of Willows rittens are selfs or Irish.

Because we had a baby with a defective eye and it was a himalayan,

we are holding back all himalayans from this litter for further observation.

More details on some of the congenital eyes issues we've been facing

will be posted under our information pages.

Parents  ROK Lucky x ROK Willow
DOB  8/5/09
Goals  Breed out the albino, nice rex coats, work out markings
Litter Notes

Willow delivered 15 babies the morning of the 5th. Unfortunatly,

two were stillborn and we lost 3 in the first 48hrs. Not sure the

cause since the 14 born live looked healthy with milk bands during

the first 24 hrs then faded away over the following two days. The

remaining 10 are doing very very well now, though and are plump

and growing great!

Parents  ROK Da Rug x ROK Madalynn
DOB  8/27/09
Goals

Inbreeding to lock in Maddie's AWSOME head, work out the markings,

work on shading, test for dilutes.

Litter Notes

Madalynn delivered 13 healthy, live rittens early the morning of

the 27th. She's a lot like her mother in that she needs frequent

breaks from the rittens to maintain her sanity! Otherwise she is a

great mom.

Parents ROK Da Rug x BSS Cleopatra
DOB  8/31/09
Goals  work on markings for the Siamese line, work on dumbo ears, better type.
Litter Notes

Cleo had a long gestation and delivered two babies on the evening

of the 31st that were clearly retained. They were born weighing 9g

each (normal birth weight is 5-6g) and pigmented. I'm posting comparison

pics below. Unfortunatly, it appears Cleo is either having trouble lactating

for only two, or the first born is suffering some type of failure to thrive and

I'm not sure he's going to make it. Both babies are males, one is rex, the

first born appears black and the second born appears Russian blue.

Sadly, we lost the first born (dumbo black self rex male) on 9/6/09. He seemed

failure to thrive - he lost weight and never regained it leaving him looking

dehydrated and emaciated. The second born (Dumbo Russian blue berkshire

male) is doing well, though he, too, went through a rough looking time. He

has a strange coat - kind of patchy, very soft and somewhat thin. He

is not a rex, though, so I would assume his hair will grow in to look "normal"

as an adult.

Ritten Info Male A - Dumb Russian blue Berkshire “Gunner”
Male B - Black self rex - DOD 9/6/09

Parents  CBR Void of ROK x ROK Leila
DOB  10/8/09
Goals

Test Void for dilutes, work on Russian silver line, improve Leila's head.

Litter Notes

Leila delivered 10 live and 1 stillborn (total of 11) rittens around 8am 10/8.

They are all black eyed! It looks like there are 7 males and 3 females, but

this will be confirmed by the time they're 2wks old. There is a "runt" that is

about 2/3's the size of the rest, but he's not "runty" looking other then being

a mini version of his siblings. He's plump, well-proportioned, and has a big milk

band, so as of 24hrs old I'd say he's perfectly healthy and we shouldn't loose him.
